The day anime fans thought would never come is here. Premiering in 1982, Super Dimension Fortress Macross was the start of a massive anime franchise that’s continued to this day with numerous sequels and films. While the first Macross series came to the west as the first part of the Robotech series (and was released uncut later on), most of those sequels and films haven’t been released outside of Japan due to varying legal disagreements between rights holders Big West Co. LTD., Studio Nue, INC. (who were both involved in the original creation of Macross) and Harmony Gold U.S.A. (who…

This article contains Zack Snyder’s Justice League spoilers. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a lot of movie. It’s four hours plus of superhero action with some heavy mythological overtones. And it’s ending isn’t even a single ending to this story…it’s multiple endings. And each of these multiple endings is meant to set up a host of spinoff movies and Justice League sequels that we will unfortunately never get to see! We’ll consider the “main” ending of the film, the one that wraps up the initial story begun in 2013’s Man of Steel, to be the defeat of Steppenwolf. But from…

In his original review for Back to the Future Part II, Roger Ebert (the Alpha and Omega of film criticism) called the movie “an exercise in goofiness, an excursion into various versions of the past and future that is so baffling that even the characters are constantly trying to explain it to each other.” Although his review was largely a positive one, his sentiments echoed those of audiences who felt that Part II was an exercise in contrivance — one marked by baffling character choices (Marty’s sudden aversion to being called “chicken,” every line reading Thomas F. Wilson does as…

The following contains spoilers for Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts season 3. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts has finished its three season run… and we want more. While 30 episodes was a solid amount of time to tell its stories we can’t help but wish we had more time in Kipo’s world. We want to see more of the characters, more of the various Mutes, more of everything! Below we’ve listed just some of the movies, sequels, or even prequels we’d love to see made. DreamWorks, if you’re listening, make these happen! Wolf Spin-off Movie This idea is…

Pirates of the Caribbean was never meant to be a franchise. Not really. Of course one could also argue the concept was never meant to be a movie either. Originally a theme park ride which opened at Disneyland in 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean becoming a movie is the kind of high-concept thrown around by Disney execs huddled at a conference table. Indeed, it was creative executives Brigham Taylor, Michael Haynes, and Josh Harmon who brainstormed the basic plot for a Pirates movie during the same period the studio greenlit The Country Bears and The Haunted Mansion movies. However, what…

Disney has reconfigured its theatrical release schedule again as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage throughout the country, with the company yanking or delaying some films while leaving others in place — at least for now. The first, not totally unexpected move was pulling Mulan off its August 21 release date. Originally set to arrive this past spring and then this month, the live-action remake of the animated classic was moved to August after the first major wave of the pandemic. Now, according to Deadline, it’s been removed from next month’s calendar and does not currently have a release date.…

While a large majority of The Matrix fans would put the first movie squarely at the top of the trilogy with no bother from its sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions do still have their cheerleaders. Cinematographer Bill Pope found himself dragging his pompoms after a gruelling back-to-back shoot on both, though, describing it as “mind numbing and soul numbing.” Pope, who had previously worked with The Matrix directors The Wachowskis on 1996’s critically acclaimed Bound before climbing aboard the pair’s groundbreaking sci-fi action trilogy, revealed the exhaustive nature of the Reloaded and Revolutions shoot in a new…

Warcraft director Duncan Jones has confirmed via Twitter that he had mapped out the basic story for a Warcraft film trilogy before plans for subsequent Warcraft movies fell apart. “Part 2 would have been Go’el/Thrall as a young orc slave in Blackmoore’s gladiator camp,” Jones says in regards to his intentions for a sequel to 2016’s Warcraft. “Here he meets & befriends a Tauren who tells him of another land to the west where his people come from, & where he might find allies & maybe a new home…” From there, Jones goes on to describe what an eventual third…

It seemed like a breath of fresh air in 2015. By the middle of the last decade, superhero movies, particularly those produced by Marvel Studios, had begun their total domination of the summer box office, and Warner Bros. appeared quick on their heels with Comic-Con trailers about another moody Batman reboot. Yet in the confines of Jurassic World, here was a blast from the past, both the prehistoric kind with CGI recreations of long lost dinosaurs (or Steven Spielberg’s rough approximation of them) and the childhoods cherished by millennial moviegoers. That memory of the old familiar places was serviced in…
