Xbox Game Pass: New Games for September 2020 Revealed

Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft’s subscription service for Xbox One owners. It’s designed to be like a “Netflix for games,” where you pay a simple monthly rate and get access to loads of games for download. It’s not to be confused with the Xbox Live Gold membership, which gives users a selection of free games each month. There was a huge surge in popularity and profile for Xbox Game Pass in 2018, mainly due to Microsoft unveiling a strategy that puts brand new games on the service. Sea of Thieves was the first example of this, followed by State of Decay 2. Crackdown…

The Right Stuff Disney+ TV Series Release Date Revealed with New Trailer

In an interesting turn of events, National Geographic’s television series adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s The Right Stuff became a Disney+ streaming offering, reviving the seemingly-abandoned cultural attribute of wonder and optimism. Nat Geo, which went into development on the 8-episode television adaptation of The Right Stuff back in 2017, made the move this past May to export its scripted original to Disney+, setting a fall release window. The series will, of course, live up as the namesake of Wolfe’s 1979 novel and director Philip Kaufman’s iconic 1983 movie by chronicling the Space Race-era story of NASA’s 1958-1963 Project Mercury, specifically…

Tron 3 Title Possibly Revealed by Jared Leto

Jared Leto already has major movie franchises on his plate, but the pile just recently grew with the confirmation of his starring role for the back-on-track Tron 3. While the star’s excitement over that film’s latest development—the hiring of director Garth Davis—was palpable, it seems that said excitement might have led to a slip of Disney state secrets, specifically the film’s official title. Tron: Ares is the title that Leto cited, apparently mistakenly, in a recent tweet that—conspicuously enough—was subsequently deleted. Indeed, in the original version of the now-reposted (as seen just below,) and edited tweet, Leto similarly confirmed his…

The announcement was accompanied by a first-look photo. We’ll be darned if Ashmore doesn’t look just like his X2 counterpart John Allerdyce a.k.a. Pyro.  “We were thrilled that Shawn — who is, let’s be honest, an OG superhero — wanted to play the crucial part of Lamplighter. He brings so much depth, menace, and world weary humanity to this former member…

Street Fighter V first arrived in early 2016 and what started as a barely-playable disaster with a scant roster of 16 has been improved to become one of the best fighting games currently on the market. And in June, Capcom held a special live stream to promote what will be its fifth and final season of downloadable content for the game. When all is said and done, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will have 45 fighters, the most in any Street Fighter game. Oddly enough, the stream did not include any trailers. Guilty Gear Strive Is Coming to PS5, New Characters Revealed

A handful of representatives from various Japanese video game companies that specialize in fighting games took part in an online roundtable on Friday. Announcements and trailers were expected, but some companies came in empty-handed. Capcom is a week away from its own big event where it’ll announce the next set of characters for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, so the publisher didn’t have much to say. SNK doesn’t have a trailer for its long-awaited King of Fighters XV (announced about a year ago), but swears that it’ll have news very soon. On the other hand, Arc System Works had plenty…

On Friday, various Japanese fighting game developers joined together for a roundtable discussion about the state of the genre sort of designed to replace Evo Online, which got the ax earlier this year due to accusations lodged at the event’s CEO. The two-and-a-half-hour roundtable featured representatives from Capcom, Arc System Works, Arika, SNK, Koei Tecmo, and Bandai Namco Entertainment. While most of the roundtable came and went without many big reveals, Namco had just enough to keep people interested. The publisher finally had an announcement for SoulCalibur VI. Emmys 2020 Nominations: Complete List of Nominees Revealed

Sometimes Emmy Award ceremonies can blend together. How can one differentiate among all the years Bryan Cranston or Modern Family won gold? Well there’s little risk in the Emmy Awards of 2020 blending together with all the others. It’s not because some familiar shows won’t win (Succession, Ozark, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel all seem primed for repeats). It’s because the format will be remarkably different. Like just about everything else right now, the 2020 Emmy Awards on September 20, 2020 are going virtual. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, large gatherings are banned in many places around the world, and…
