Hulu New Releases: June 2021

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film. The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with…

Hulu New Releases: May 2021

Though Marvel has decided to consolidate all of its cinematic universe offerings onto Disney+, some outliers still live on for other streaming services. In May 2021, Hulu is set to premiere the latest non-canon Marvel series. The animated comedy Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is set to premiere on May 21 and stars Patton Oswalt as the titular Marvel villain. Oswalt’s MODOK is every bit the devious floating head that he’s depicted as in the comics. He’s also your every day family man and the show will take on the format of a workplace sitcom. Sounds kinda fun! It’s no wonder that M.O.D.O.K.…

The Simpsons Releases Morrissey Episode Music Video

The Simpsons aired one of its most pointed parodies this past weekend, “Panic on the Streets of Springfield,” and the hits keep on coming. Animation Domination on FOX dropped “Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You),” the new music video by Quilloughby (with Lisa Simpson), which came out on The Snuff’s label, Total Despair Records.  The lyrics are inspired sub-genre satire. “Everyday I try to smile, but can’t help but frown, Every day I draw my bath and pray I will drown,” Quilloughby (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) sings, and heaven knows he’s miserable, now and forever. Netflix is the king of the streaming world until proven otherwise. But in recent months the streamer’s lists of new releases have looked relatively sparse as competing media conglomerates remove their titles from Netflix’s library. There are plenty of intriguing Netflix original series and films this month. The one that appears to have the highest blockbuster potential though is the series Shadow and Bone on April 23. Shadow and Bone is adapted from Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha-verse…

HBO Max New Releases: April 2021

Fresh off the long-awaited arrival of Zack Snyder’s Justice League (a.k.a. the fabled Snyder Cut), HBO Max has no need to appease fandom culture in April 2021. But the streaming service is gonna do it anyway! The most notable new release for HBO Max this month is the HBO series The Nevers. This show, created by Joss Whedon, is set in a 19th century steampunk London and finds a sizable portion of the population (predominantly women) having been “Touched” by mysterious paranormal powers. There’s an interesting bit of irony at play here, as HBO Max is following up the Snyder…

Amazon Prime Video New Releases: April 2021

And just like that – here comes spring. Amazon Prime‘s list of new releases for April 2021 isn’t as cheery as one would expect from the sunny season. But perhaps that’s by design – you should be outside anyway! Amazon’s most prominent original series for April 2021 is undoubtedly Them from multi-hyphenate Lena Waithe. This horror anthology’s first season, subtitled “Covenant”, will center on a Black family in the 1950s who move from North Carolina to a white neighborhood in Los Angeles. It premieres on April 9. Given its name and premise, Them is drawing some (largely joke-y) comparisons to…
