Every season is monster season in our hearts. But this March is a particularly good time to celebrate our enormous, scaly, and/or hairy friends. In the film world, the long-awaited Godzilla v. Kong arrives on March 31. Meanwhile on television, the final season of behemoth anime Attack on Titan is in the midst of its final season right now. Given that many of us are already primed for bracketology in March, we decided to create a bracket of our 32 favorite monsters for you, the monster-lover, to vote on. In honor of Godzilla, Kong, and Attack on Titan’s many titans,…

Just when you thought slasher movies couldn’t get any lower, My Bloody Valentine dug a mineshaft. A deep pit in the caverns of taste. Date movie? My Bloody Valentine was the antidote to Hallmark cards. The main suitor didn’t wear his heart on his sleeve; he bled it out with every candy in the box. Hence why critics weren’t so sweet on the slasher flick when it first came out in 1981, labeling it excessive and derivative. Nevertheless, the movie has amassed a cult following, and did indeed add subtle innovations to the genre. Is the ‘80s horror offering the…

This article contains WandaVision spoilers and speculation that could lead to spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the rest of the MCU. While WandaVision is busy keeping everybody guessing with its mysterious sitcom-inflected weirdness, the Super Bowl just reminded us that there’s a more relatively straightforward superhero action show coming to Disney+ next month. Right after WandaVision finishes its nine episode run, Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will hit the streamer on March 19, telling the tale of the uneasy partnership between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, and the ongoing quest to fill Captain America’s…

Back in 2011, Mortal Kombat 9’s DLC run came to an end with the first downloadable guest character in the franchise’s history, the classic slasher Freddy Krueger. Many other famous movie characters have followed suit, including Leatherface, Predator, the Xenomorph from Alien, RoboCop, and the Terminator. Now it’s John Rambo’s turn. The First Blood protagonist will hit Mortal Kombat 11 alongside Rain and Mileena. While we thought Rambo’s teaser announcement trailer from earlier this month would be all we’d see of the action hero in the game, we’ve learned that NOTHING IS OVER! NOTHING! YOU DON’T JUST TURN IT OFF!…

Michael Keaton appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week to talk about his work in The Trial of the Chicago 7 as well as plans for him to reprise his role as Batman in Andy Muschietti’s in-development The Flash movie. While Keaton declined to say much about donning the cape and cowl once again to mentor Ezra Miller’s young Barry Allen in the DCEU film — beyond confirming that he’s “having discussions” with Warner Bros. — he did sound off on another very important topic. Since The Flash is set to feature not just one Batman from the franchise’s…

A dozen dogs, minimum. At least thirty men wearing puffy tunics and women in massive croissant-shaped hats. Boars, deer, bears, spears and carcasses everywhere you look. Any 15th century tapestry will tell you that in ye olden days, a royal hunting expedition involved more fuss and hoopla than your average Glastonbury. So why, when King Robert Baratheon, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm goes hunting in Game of Thrones’ first season, does he pitch up with only his little brother, a single guard, a spear apiece, and a boy to carry the wine bladder? That’s the complaint…

More than 70 years since he first arrived to Hollywood, Scotty Bowers is finally having his moment on screen. Recently his alleged exploits inspired the frothy fun of Ryan Murphy’s revisionist Netflix series, Hollywood, but now Bowers himself is getting a more prestigious biopic treatment in Searchlight Pictures’ narrative adaptation of Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood, a 2017 documentary about Bowers made at the end of his life. Genuinely, how can this not be a major, awards-friendly affair with Luca Guadagnino, director of Call Me by Your Name (2017) and Suspiria (2018), now attached to direct? The news…

Steven Spielberg always appears a little wary when the subject of Jaws comes up. While the blockbuster maestro frequently enjoys chatting about past triumphs, the mere mention of his career-making success seems to transport him back to those endless days floating in the waters off Martha’s Vineyard, waiting for a mechanical shark to work, actors to stop squabbling, and maybe some type of spiritual deliverance. “I was more courageous or I was more stupid,” the director once said about that time in his life. “And I think of both of those things existing underwater.” For that reason, when he’s asked…
