Dragon Age 4 Trailer Features the Return of Solas

It’s been a little while since we’ve gotten an update on the next Dragon Age game, but BioWare was good enough to check in at The Game Awards 2020 with this teaser trailer for the studio’s next RPG: In true Dragon Age fashion (at least as far as this project is concerned) the trailer doesn’t give us much to work with. Don’t you just love the endless teasing of a high-profile game? Doesn’t that always justify the drawn-out hype rather than lead to titles that fail to live up to overblown expectations or the burdens of years worth of anticipation?…

Warrior Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Enter the Dragon

This Warrior review contains spoilers. Warrior Season 2 Episode 9 Enter the Dragon was Bruce Lee’s most significant film and is regarded as one of the greatest martial arts films of all time. It was the first major Hollywood and Hong Kong co-production, and it also became one of the most profitable films of all time. Tragically, Lee didn’t live to see its success. He died a month prior to the premiere of Enter the Dragon. For Warrior to evoke Lee’s masterpiece, this episode better be good. The significance of the title isn’t lost on Warrior’s head writer Jonathan Tropper. “My favorite…

Why The Mandalorian Doesn’t Know How to Cook Krayt Dragon Meat

In The Mandalorian season 2 premiere, Din Djarin a.k.a. The Mandalorian a.k.a. “Mando” pulls off perhaps his biggest feat of badassery yet. With the help of some Tusken Raiders and a devastatingly handsome Timothy Olyphant as Tatooine marshal Cobb Vanth, Mando takes down an enormous and fearsome krayt dragon. This means the Raiders get the valuable dragon pearl, Mando gets Boba Fett’s Mandalorian armor back from Vanth, and most importantly: the people of Mos Pelgo and Mos Eisley get some yummy krayt dragon meat. But then, in episode 2 “The Passenger,” something goes horribly awry.  As Mando arrives back in…

Yakuza: Like a Dragon Review – Yakuza Meets Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy

With Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Sega has fundamentally reinvented almost every aspect of the long-running series, resulting in the freshest and most engaging Yakuza experience in years.  I was initially skeptical about the sudden transition to turn-based combat after Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio spent years honing the series’ beat ‘em up combat, but those doubts disappeared a few hours into the game and once I met Nanba, the third member of my party. Nanba is an ex-nurse who fell on hard times and ended up living on the streets of Yokohama’s Isezaki Ijincho red light district. His default class is…

The news was announced by HBO Monday evening, with the premium cable network revealing the English-born Cosidine is stepping into the crown of Viserys I after playing Mr. Martin on HBO’s The Third Day. Game of Thrones Prequel Series House of the Dragon on Track for 2022, Casting Underway, Says HBO President

While 2019’s controversial conclusion of Game of Thrones played out the presumed end of Westeros’s royal Targaryen bloodline in the television adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire literary mythology, HBO subsequently put into motion plans to jump back to the family’s peak era with prequel series House of the Dragon, with a 2022 window eyed. Yet, while the royal house’s motto of “Fire and Blood,” might accurately describe how 2020 has been playing out, it appears that the prequel series was not set back by the pandemic. House of the Dragon is still on track…

How Double Dragon’s Abobo Became a Beat em up Legend

In the late ’80s, video games started featuring over-the-top, meaty musclemen. Metro City had Mike Haggar, a shirtless former wrestler who became mayor and decided that being “tough on crime” meant ridding the streets of criminals with his bare hands, his girlfriend’s psycho boyfriend, and a ninja in Nikes. Circus strongman Karnov scoured the world for adventure and treasure, fighting all kinds of mythical monsters. Bald Bull was trying to dominate both the boxing ring and the arm-wrestling circuit. Gutsman was a jacked construction robot who was later rebuilt as a 40-foot-tall tank centaur. And then there was Abobo, the…

Highfire TV Series Ordered by Amazon, Nicolas Cage to Voice Lead Role of a Dragon

Eoin Colfer’s irreverent, genre-blending fantasy/crime novel, Highfire, is getting adapted by Amazon as a live-action/animated hybrid television series. Intriguingly, the project will have the services of Nicolas Cage, who’s on tap to provide the voice role of the eponymous character, who happens to be a dragon, one who lives in Louisiana, spending his days sipping vodka. Highfire, a project residing at MGM/UA Television, has been put into development by Amazon, according to Deadline. The would-be series will operate under the creative purview of showrunner Davey Holmes, creator of Epix’s Get Shorty adaptation series, along with producer runs on shows such…

Dragon Age 4 Trailer Showcases Classic BioWare RPG

During the Gamescom opening ceremony, BioWare surprisingly showcased an extensive breakdown of Dragon Age 4. The footage in question is largely a blend of developer interviews and very early test footage. We’re going to emphasize “early” here as it seems that BioWare is very much still working on Dragon Age 4 and that you shouldn’t expect to play the game for a long time. The heart of the matter, though, is that it sounds like BioWare intends for Dragon Age 4 to be a return to RPG form for the company after they’ve spent the last few years controversially working…

Dragon’s Dogma Trailer Showcases Netflix Series

Netflix has released the first trailer for its animated adaptation of Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma, and the results are…interesting. “Resurrected as an Arisen, Ethan sets out to vanquish the Dragon that took his heart,” reads a description of Dragon’s Dogma on the Netflix website. “But with every demon he battles, his humanity slips further away.” Created by Japanese animation studio Sublimation, Dragon’s Dogma‘s animation style certainly seems to be the thing that most people are talking about at the moment. There’s been some debate in the past regarding whether or not some of Netflix’s other animated adaptations technically qualify as animes.…

Former Ubisoft Executive Canceled King Arthur Game From Dragon Age Director

A report from Bloomberg reveals that former Ubisoft executive Serge Hascoët is responsible for the cancellation of a King Arthur project led by Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw. The report (which is currently behind a paywall) indicates that Laidlaw was hired by Ubisoft sometime around 2018 to work on an RPG project known as Avalon. With the help of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey developers Ubisoft Québec, Laidlaw intended to create an expansive fantasy world based on the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. It seems that Laidlaw and the team at Ubisoft Québec also intended…

Slay the Dragon

After the 2008 election, a secretive, well-funded partisan initiative poured money into state legislative races in key swing states to gain control of their redistricting processes and used high-tech analytics to dramatically skew voting maps based on demographic data. The result is one of the greatest electoral manipulations in U.S. history, one that poses a fundamental threat to our democracy and exacerbates the already polarized atmosphere in Congress and state houses across the country. Gerrymandering, the practice of redrawing electoral maps to serve the party in power, has been around for centuries. But in today’s hyperpartisan political environment it has…
