Mondo Debuts New Artwork for SDCC’s Comic-Con@Home

San Diego Comic-Con may be cancelled in its most ideal sense this year, but for the nerdy faithful who still want to bask in the community created by panels, cosplay, and swag, the dream lives on. And it’s just gone virtual with SDCC’s Comic-Con@Home event later this week. In keeping with that ethos, Mondo, the indie tastemaking artwork company, has partnered with SDCC for the exclusive products below. Beginning tomorrow and Thursday, fans for characters as varied as Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, Charles Schulz’s Peanuts Gang, and the poor, doomed folks trapped in “the Loop” on Amazon’s Tales from the Loop,…

The Walking Dead Comic Will Be Re-Released in Color

Though many of its characters are morally gray, The Walking Dead has always been a black and white affair…at least in terms of the paper it’s printed on. Now, that’s set to change. Creator Robert Kirkman’s studio Skybound Entertainment will be re-releasing each of the series’ 193 issues with some added features. For the first time ever, The Walking Dead will be printed in color, with colorist Dave McCaig joining the project to add color to illustrator Charlie Adlard’s art. Additionally, each issue…

The New Mutants Releases New Trailer, Sets Comic-Con@Home Panel

“Nothing will stop The New Mutants,” reads the tag line in the new trailer for the delays-dealt Marvel movie. It’s a defiant statement that seems to address the absurd awkwardness endured by the 2017-shot film in its seemingly interminable quest to reach a release. Yet, the trailer in question also signals a crucial promotional stop: a virtual panel set for the COVID-quarantined Comic-Con@Home festivities, which are to be held in place of Comic-Con 2020. 20th Century Fox Studios, which originally produced the film that now resides under the Disney corporate umbrella, has announced that The New Mutants will hold its…

San Diego Comic-Con 2020 Cancelled Due to Coronavirus Concerns

San Diego Comic-Con has been officially canceled. The unsurprising news broke after numerous other pop culture events have been removed from the entertainment calendar over the last few weeks as the coronavirus pandemic continues to run virtually unchecked around the world. This marks the first time in SDCC’s 50 year history that it has been canceled. “Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by…

Robin Williams Comic Genius

DVD Talk Collector Series The Specials:The title of this DVD goldmine for fans of Robin Williams' stand-up and improv work can be described with a word that Williams used frequently in his acts over the decades: Redundant. After his singular success in stand-up, film, and TV, everyone should know at this point that the Comic Genius description comes prepackaged with the name. It was for me when I first came to San Francisco for grad school in late 2002, but I mostly knew of Williams' genius through his film roles, a cornucopia of comedic and dramatic work that showcased his…
