The Game Awards 2020: Biggest Snubs

The Game Awards nominations have finally arrived, which means it’s officially time to start arguing about what the biggest video game award show of the year got right and wrong. Considering the many ways that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the entire entertainment industry this year (including gaming), we’re a little surprised that this year’s nominees are as competitive as they are. While titles like Halo Infinite missed their 2020 release date and Cyberpunk 2077 will miss the award show’s Nov. 20 cutoff date for nominations, there were enough quality games released in 2020 to ensure that the Game Awards…

Emmy Awards 2020 Predictions and Analysis

After several years of, let’s say, improved taste, the Emmy Awards backslid a bit last year. Sure, it was nice to see Fleabag get the recognition it deserved. And with an eclectic list of first-time nominees like The Mandalorian, The Morning Show, and Watchmen they may be able to do just that! Watchmen Wins Big At the 2020 TCA Awards

Who watches the Watchmen? The Television Critics Association apparently (of which, full disclosure: this author is a member).  Eerily prescient HBO miniseries Watchmen has won four 2020 TCA Awards, including Individual Achievement in Drama (for Regina King’s work), Outstanding New Program, Outstanding Achievement in Movie, Miniseries, or Special, and Program of the Year. This marks a clean sweep of the categories that Watchmen was nominated in and, due to the TCA Awards’ relatively short list of 13 categories, amounts to the show winning roughly 31% of all the awards. Not bad! Watchmen’s TCA Awards dominance is reminiscent of another timely…
