Bright Sequel Taps Incredible Hulk Director Louis Leterrier

Bright, the 2017 fantasy thriller headlined by superstar Will Smith, had a distribution strategy that now—about three short years later in the midst of a pandemic—proved bellwether in hindsight. That’s because the project that was tailor-made to be a big screen blockbuster bypassed a theatrical release to premiere as an exclusive streaming offering on Netflix. While the film had its obstacles with critics (our own review was no exception), the streaming giant quickly greenlit a sequel, which is now moving forward with a director. Louis Leterrier is in talks to occupy the director’s chair for the untitled Bright sequel, according…

Altered Carbon: Resleeved Ending Explained

This article contains spoilers for Altered Carbon: Resleeved. At first glance, Altered Carbon: Resleeved would appear to have a fairly pat ending. The villain is dead, and everyone goes their own way. It’s an uncharacteristically hopeful conclusion for this normally dark cyberpunk story, aside from the fact that Hideki Tanaseda, the latest Meth to compel services from Takeshi Kovacs, is not quite finished with the last Envoy. But even that leaves open the possibility for more animated action in this universe, whether it’s with the same secondary characters or not. Altered Carbon: Resleeved Review

This review contains spoilers for Altered Carbon: Resleeved. Is Altered Carbon: Resleeved an anime in an Altered Carbon sleeve or Altered Carbon in an anime sleeve? On the other hand, the organized crime story involving a Yakuza boss and rituals of succession, honor codes, and sword battles dives deep into the Japanese origins of the story form and appeals to…

Godless (Netflix)

Godless, Netflix’s new seven-component miniseries, opens in 1884, in Creede, Colorado, with a thick cloud of smog shrouding the digicam. The haze slowly dissolves to reveal a chilling panorama: parched our bodies being tended to through swarms of flies; a man, sedentary, with a gunshot via his head; a teach-smash near which a younger boy hangs from a noose; and a girl, crouched over a corpse, singing mournfully approximately Christ. It’s a close to-wordless numerous minutes, a triumph of temper and cinematography, that inspires the type of hard-and-tumble anarchy of the splendid filmic frontiersman. Soon after, we’re in La Belle,…
