BIRTH OF THE DRAGON is a modern take on the classic movies that Bruce Lee was known for. It takes its inspiration from the epic and still controversial showdown between an up-and-coming Bruce Lee and kung fu master Wong Jack Man.
Was Bruce Lee really a very good fighter? The query sounds insane, because no one within the records of martial-arts cinema has ever been 1/2 as spell binding to watch. Plenty of martial-arts stars have speed, however Lee wasn’t just quicker than any of then; he had the demonic air of secrecy of speed, a ferocity that charged every jagged movement with expression. His limbs were jackknives on lightning, and his quivering, coal-eyed glower advised you how committed he became to every cut and thrust. At the same time, right in the center of a scene, part of him hung back and located all of it. That’s why he became the rock superstar of kung fu, at once inside the second and hovering above it.
